The author belongs to an Integrated Defence Family. Her father and five of his brothers served in the Royal Indian Air Force during World War II and later as officers in the Indian Air Force. Her mother Amrit Mehta was an exceptional cook and a lot of credit must go to her for imbibing the service ethos in her at a very young age.

Dolly has been married to an Army Officer for the past fifty years and has travelled extensively throughout the country first with her father and then with her husband. She has been extremely popular for a wide variety of food that she has served in her house. Has received accolades for her cooking and won prizes at various forums. She has won the prestigious All India Cookery Contest organized by the Times of India Group in 1983. Was awarded by the Governor of Uttar Pradesh at Clarks Avadh at Lucknow.

Specializes in the presentation and lay out of food with a style that carries all the fervour and flavour of an Army wife’s personality. Popularly known as the ‘Pickle Queen’ amongst the friends and the elite society of serving and retired service officers.
