In 2011, I started Sanitas Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It was the best hospital by far and won all kinds of awards from all over the world for the excellence of service, affordable price, for charitable activities, for innovation, for continuous improvement, for its ambiance, employment of technology and talent, social awareness, women's empowerment, spawning numerous entrepreneurs around itself and a great deal more.

This is the passionate story of an entrepreneur’s experience in Tanzania.

About the Author: A textile engineer (Bombay, India) with an MBA (Otago, New Zealand) Murthy has led organizations – both as a professional and as an entrepreneur - in a variety of industries {Textiles; Pharmaceuticals; Plastics; Engineering & Fabrication (in India); Fruits Processing (in Uganda); Tissue Converting (New Zealand); Recycled Paper Mill (Western Australia); Philatelic Bureau; Label Printing (New Zealand); Cartons & Corrugated (Melbourne, Sydney & Adelaide, Australia); Health Centre and finally, a Hospital (Tanzania)} to great success in top-line revenues as well as bottom-line profits, always carrying all stakeholders to achieve common goals.

He has done this without redundancies and job losses; without harming the environment in any manner; and without exploiting anyone anywhere on the basis of race, gender, religion, age or color.

He is the founder, Chairman & Mentor of a multispecialty, 4-Star ranked hospital, Sanitas, in Tanzania that is a high social impact project accredited by all insurance companies. Sanitas has received several awards from all over the world for its excellence and Murthy was chosen as being among the top 101 global leaders in healthcare by the World Health Wellness Congress. Sanitas employs over 150 staff (80% women) directly and has spawned numerous entrepreneurs that provide various services to staff and patients at Sanitas like laundry services; ambulance services; food services; car washing; selling gifts and trinkets; fruits and juices and more.
