Bhima Bhoi was a prevalent poet, writer and vocalist. Humankind and freedom of the creation based on the philosophy of Mahima Dharma were the essential leitmotif of his poetic creations. His proclamation "mo jeevana pachhe narke padithau, jagata uddhara heu" (let my life rot in the abyss, if necessary, but let the world be redeemed from all sorrows and sufferings) cabinets his commitment to the redemption of the societally deprived, the marginalized, the subaltern. Bhoi's poetry gave a clear reflection of the poor socio-economic conditions in Odisha during his lifetime, and Bhoi challenged that through his social mobility literature.
