Carl Jung is one of the great pioneers in the field of exploring the inner workings of the human mind and personality. He is second only to Sigmund Freud among the giants of modern psychological thought. Many of today’s well known psychological theories originated in Jung’s brain, although he is generally passed over in favor of his former mentor S. Freud. Many of Jung’s ideas are now fundamental to our understanding of the mysteries of the mind. The contributions of Jung to our understanding of the human psyche cannot be overestimated. His concepts of the collective unconscious, archetypal personality patterns, extroversion and introversion; his inquiry into the function of thought, instinct and feeling and investigation into the roots and meanings of dreams have had profound and far reaching influence. Jung is an important thinker in his own right and that his ideas play an important role at the heart of intellectual debates of our age. His conception of the human psyche represents an important contribution to perennial questions about mind, human nature and human destiny.
