This coffee table book is not intended for a history or archaeological treatise, but to assist those who visit, or have visited the area of Central India covered here, to an intelligent understanding of one of the great epochs of Indian art. With a brief history of the area between Fourteenth Century till Eighteen century, attempted to give a sketch of the personality of the kings, and of the times which they lived, as is necessary for the appreciation of the wonderful monuments. The book has tried to capture the rich cultural heritage embedded in the beautiful and monumental buildings of the region. The impressive contribution of Deccan sultanates to the art and architecture of India has been recognized by UNESCO and has placed the monuments in Gulbarga, Bidar, Bijapur and Hyderabad in the tentative list of World Heritage sites.
The book is product of extensive study of the region with brief history and 250+ photographs delineate the things more interesting for the readers.
About the Authors:
Sukhdeep Singh and Ajay Gupta are seasoned veterans of the IT industry, each bringing over three decades of professional experience. Having spent the majority of their careers with leading multinational corporations, they developed a strong friendship built on shared passions for photography, travel, history, and wildlife.
Together, they have journeyed extensively across India, exploring its rich heritage, diverse culture, stunning architecture, and vibrant culinary traditions. Their travels have taken them to numerous destinations of historical, cultural, and religious significance, which they have documented and photographed with great dedication. While Sukhdeep is currently based in Mumbai, Ajay is on an assignment in Singapore.
