Folklores of Kumaon
About the Author: Prof. Prabha Pant is presently working as Head of the Department (Hindi) at M.B.P.G College, Haldwani. She has more than twenty-six years of teaching experience to her credit in Higher Education. She is a well- known name in the domains of Hindi poetry, Bal Sahity and Folk Litrature as well. She has been female counselor at Uttarakhand Police Department since 2012. She represented Uttarakhand at (Antarashtriya-Vichar-Mahakumbh-Singhastha, Ujjain. Shehas also been member of selection and management committee at Uttarakhand Bhasha-Sansthan. She was awarded Acharya Narendra Dev Alankar in 2015 by Acharya Narendra Dev Sikshanidhi, Nainital. She has been active at akashvani and doordarshan as orator, storyteller and poet etc. She has published several research articles, editorials, review essays in national, international and e-magazines. She has published around 20 books so far which include poetry collection, short story collection, Kumauni folktales, as well as non-fictional endeavours: `Karmyogini Sarla Behan, Hum our Humara Kumaun, Kumauni Sahitya Sugandhika, Meri Pratinidhi Kahaniyan, Bachpan Jeene Do etc. are to name a few. Some of her Kumaoni Lok Katha (Folk tales of Kumaon) have been translated in Sanskrit and Nepali languages also. 10 scholars have completed their Ph. D. in her guidance and Ph. D. work of 6 is in progress. She has received many awards for her literature. Recently in the month of Sept 2023 she has been honored by Shri Manas Sewa Samiti Ayodhya Dham (Uttara Pradesh) for her work in the field of literature and in the month of Aug 2023 embellished by Madhya Pradesh Saahity Academy by national award for her book Meri Pratinidhi Kahaniyan.
About the Author: Translator Dinesh Kumar Mali, is a recipient of the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi Award and Acharya Nand Dulare Vajpeyi Samman, for his remarkable work in Hindi literature. He is a researcher, prolific Hindi writer, and translator of repute. He has translated more than 25 seminal books which are published worldwide. He has academically contributed to the MA in Folklore and Culture Studies program of IGNOU, New Delhi, India.
