This book is a culmination of creatively that explores gender-based violence through various mediums including analysis, poems, and articles. From dating back to the traces of patriarchy in Indian scripture, to the blatant misogyny in Bollywood films and television ads, along with factual articles and a few heartfelt pieces of poetry, the author seeks to empower the youth to stand up for gender rights, before it's too late.

About the Author: Anaya Chhabra is a 15-year-old studying at Pathways School Noida with a penchant for expressing herself through the written word. To explore her academic interests in political and social research, she has worked with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), one of India’s largest political parties, to curate press releases for party members. She has also been involved with Ilham Inclusive, an organization that seeks to spread socio-legal awareness about gender rights which furthered her interest in exploring gender-based issues in our country. She currently runs @khoon.in, a non-profit passion project with a classmate where they raise awareness on issues around menstrual health in India. Through her work with @khoon.in, she has had first hand interaction with underprivileged women to understand their struggles in dealing with the stigma around menstrual health in rural areas.

Anaya’s curiosity about gender-based violence truly grew after being a part of the Commission on the Status of Women at the Oxford MUN where violence against women was discussed thoroughly. Besides this, she has also participated in multiple MUNs that have contributed to her personal and professional growth.

This book is a by-product of Anaya’s passion for understanding and raising awareness about socio-political issues that affect individuals and societies all around the world. She hopes that this small effort can help educate people about how women continue being victims of gender-based violence and aspires to work towards bettering these conditions in the future.
