Role of HR Analytics as a Strategic Tool - A Study of IT Organisations in India - Rise of Human Resource Analytics
Data analytics has truly guided the Human Resource managers to develop strategies in a measurable way for effective decision making. Human Resource analytics helps to capture the workforce data from various times. The data could be related to the past behaviour, present phenomena or the future prospects. Data analytics in India has taken a late entry but is now growing with a faster pace. Most of the Indian IT organizations have successfully implemented data analytics into their work process. Most of the Indian MNC’s are effective utilizing HR analytics as part of their data analytics function. Arguably the most practical tool and greatest potential for organizational management is the emergence of predictive analytics (Fitz-Enz, 2014). However, the fact is that even though many Human Resource experts may have a theoretical and conceptual knowledge of what Human Resource analytics might involve, very few people have the required and relevant skills and competencies to be able to actually implement, execute and carry out truly ‘predictive’ HR analytics (Drasgow, 2019).
The Book focuses on the understanding of degree of application of HR analytics. According to LinkedIn report in the year 2018 titled The Rise of Analytics in HR: A period of Talent Intelligence, in the previous five years, there has been a 70 percent expansion in specific analytics experts in HR domain over the Asia-Pacific area, though India has appeared higher in development with 77 percent. This increased focus on the HR Analytics is because of the opportunity that has risen from the increasing availability of readily accessible data in almost all the areas of Management and also because of growing importance of HR function as a crucial and important organizational competence (Bassi, Carpenter & McMurrer, 2010).
