Language is the expression for communication of thoughts and feelings through vocal
sounds or written symbols. Actually, it refers to any means of expression or communication,
including vocal sounds, gestures, signs etc. Language has script but this does not necessarily render qualification for a language.

This language communication is processed in all known languages in the world. NLP (Natural Language Processing) attempts implementation of communication in all the common languages. This research deals with the text-based grammar checker and created using IR (Information Retrieval).

Modern Tamil Sandhi-based Grammar checker (MTSGC) is the foundation for Prose-based Grammar Checker. It is processed under the Rule-based Machine Translation (RBMT), untagged word-based paradigm (Sandhi rules set) and Transliteration.

MTSGC functions under the Indirect Machine Translation. Direct Machine Translation which is unable to apply the grammar rules to the MTSGC. For handling this problem, Researchers or programmers in Tamil NLP use the Indirect Machine Translation system.
