About the Author: Rupak Dayal has had a long and distinguished career spanning almost four decades. His grooming started in 1978 as an Assistant Personnel Officer in Tata Steel, which was the basis of his sound IR principles and practices. He rose to the position of Assistant Divisional Manager (Personnel) when he moved to Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited (a public sector organisation) as Deputy General Manager Personnel. His next career move was to Mazagon Dock Limited as Additional General Manager (P&IR) where he spent almost ten years. He separated as Group General Manager (HR) to join the Western Coalfields Limited as Director (Personnel) in 2011. He also held additional charge as Director Finance from 2013 till his retirement in 2015. He has earned recognition for his people skills, humane approach and sound knowledge of labour laws and practices. He is a life member of National Institute of Personnel Management.

Soumendra Narain Bagchi has been teaching at XLRI Jamshedpur since 2005. He graduated as a civil engineer from Delhi College of Engineering and is a Fellow from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. His work experience in corporate life spans nearly five years of project management in multiple roles, post which he registered as a doctoral student in IIM, Ahmedabad in 2000 wherein his doctoral thesis he researched workplace violence within the context of Industrial Relations.
