The book traces the civil aviation career of the author, Malakizh Variyath Shankara Gopalakrishna Warrier, who started off as an assistant aerodrome officer and rose swiftly through the ranks, first to control air traffic and run airports, and, later, to formulate policy and represent the country at International Civil Aviation Organisation.

He played a role in the liberation of East Pakistan, managing nearly 200 VVIP flights over a short duration following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and the modernization of Delhi and Mumbai airports.

The book offers insights into air accident investigations, the role small, Northeastern airports played in defending national security, the role of quick wits in pushing back against big power politicking to disadvantage developing countries, and the games that petty minds play in the bureaucracy. Finally, it is a testament to the ability of the human spirit to prevail against the odds, even unfair ones.
