Tropical regions of the world are more severely affected by infectious diseases in comparison to the temperate world. Indian claimate is considered tropical.

Infectious diseases occuring disproperationaly at high incidence in this region are simply known as tropical diseases.

Today tropical diseases remain leading cause of death and disability in developing countries and there is still an important place for a textbook about these diseases. About the Author: Dr. Ghansham Singh Katoch is currently working as senior resident in the Department of Pediatrics at PGIMER Chandigarh. He has also worked earlier at DMCH Ludhiana. Dr. Ghansham Singh Katoch has done his M.B.B.S. from GMC Jammu. It was there he developed interest in Pediatrics and subsequently did his M.D. in Pediatrics from GMC Shrinagar.

Dr. Sahil Sharma did his MBBS from GMC Jammu in 2013 and MD Paediatrics from GMC Srinagar in 2018. After that, he worked as a senior resident at HIMSR (New Delhi) and GMC Jammu. Currently, he is working as Assistant Professor at GMC, Rajouri.
