The planet earth is unique for its natural resources like water and greenery, besides its vast mineral resources. The animals of various categories and the humans are the inhabitants of this earth, and their survival is dependent upon these resources and also upon a healthy equation between both. While, broadly, the animals are physically mightier and have lesser mental development or a one-track mind; the humans are mentally superior with a greater intelligence than the animals.

During the initial evolutionary stage of the animals and the humans, they had a friendly coexistence, with both the races having a commonality of interests and activities; and they learnt from each other in a spirit of give and take. But, slowly, negative feelings like selfishness and arrogance began to creep in, and that changed the scenario. The bone of contention was – who should rule the earth? While the humans wished to share the power along with the animals, the latter wanted the entire sway for themselves on the presumption that might is right. And it resulted in a series of conflicts between both.

Though the animals were generally inferior to the humans in mental prowess, some of them were equally intelligent to the point of being cunning and outwitting the humans. A war raged where almost all the animal race, as well as a large contingent of humans was lost... This is the backdrop of this fantasy from where the theme of the present volume – The Mystery of the Eclipse Island, the first part of the multi-volume Merciless Dark, takes off.

The story with its vast canvas weaves through deliberations and decisions, plots and counterplots, espionage and magic, an incredibly mysterious island, skills in various fields of knowledge, war tactics & strategies... Finally, whatever happens at the end of the first volume, The Mystery of the Eclipse Island, is not going to be the actual end but only a break since the epic fantasy has multiple volumes in its womb.
