Fragrances - A Book of Poetry
'Fragrances' - A curated collection of poems By Annie Saraiya and Preeti Parekh.
The little flip books of old scriptures on paper that bring on an instant bout of nostalgia, a poetry chap book though is a rarity, a hard to find heirloom now, this an attempt to bring back this art form.
The years leading up to 2025 particularly the post pandemic times have seen the human race rise up to the challenges thrown their way, this book is a reflection of my journey of self-discovery and re-connection with my deceased ancestors.
'Who stole Brownie?' a satirical take on life at 44, showcases the poetry featured in this book.
'Fragrances' is an offshoot and co-authored attempt at reviving the poetry chap book. The original 'Fragrance' published in 1984 by my late grand aunt Annie Saraiya was my first introduction to poetry and verse. Her cassette 'Taraliya' a children's compilation of Gujurati nursery rhymes attuned my poetic aesthetic.
