This book entitled “Preference Heterogeneity and Learners’ Motivation towards Open Distance Learning” is the result of a project done for the Odisha State Open University (OSOU). This is a unique study on learners’ motivation which is based on different dimensions of Behavioural Economics. How heterogeneity in preference pattern or choice making by individuals, owing to personal emotional characteristics and cognitive biases at the micro level affects their decision making is the main objective of the research work. Choice making at the individual level is mostly a demand-side analysis which is greatly influenced by our cognitive capabilities, emotional characteristics and socio-cultural conditions we live with. Self-determination, self-management and self-control hold the key in making a right choice for achieving a better level of subjective well-being.
