Khaare Muktak
“Bhaav ghumad jab raah na paate, khaare muktak ban jaate hain…” The essence of this book has been rightly and beautifully captured in these lines by the poet. This book is a compilation of his poetic works, published as a small tribute to his rather lost and forgotten talent. The poems listed here were written by him in his youth, somewhere in the 1960s – 1970s. As he grew up and life happened, these works and the sheer flair behind them, disappeared in the dusty attics of our house. Years after he passed away, on a cleaning spree, his torn and dilapidated diary in which he had penned these beautiful verses was found.
The purpose of this book, however, goes far beyond it being an emotional homage to a father from his son. Literature has always been a testimony to the permanence of human nature. While a person is a transient presence in universe, the emotions felt and expressed by him in his lifetime are relevant, even decades later. Times change, language changes, but emotions remain the same. Poetry has the power to transcend the means of expression and reach directly to the heart. It is thus, my earnest hope that you will become lost in the whirlwind of emotions that is this book, forgetting all else…
