My Pitaji – Nostalgia
This book is based on anecdotal nostalgia of the author, a retired IPS Officer, beginning with growing up in a large but close-knit, middle-class family in a cottage in Meerut Cantt, the lives of seven siblings overflowing with love and fun at home. In addition to their parents, their paternal grandparents also lived in this cottage with three generations leading their lives in separate layers, such families are now very difficult to come by. It brings into focus the sharp decline in ethos, from honest and simple living, to display of status and lavish lifestyles. How our generation-next has been swept off its feet by a storm of materialism taking a toll on family bonding that was once the forte of life in our country! Pitaji, the author’s father, a beacon of light throughout his life, is the central figure of this book. The very old photos in. the book are fascinating.
