The Me in I
THIRTEEN POEMS, THIRTEEN DIFFERENT EMOTIONS AND 26 YEARS OF MARINATING FERVOR
Somewhere amidst the monotony of walking, running, chasing, working, and sleeping, an urge floated on a silent ocean. The urge coerced the spirit to put everything on the table. Everything that was misconstrued, untold and forgotten. Persuaded, I started writing, doubtful at the beginning like all good things yet I progressed, jotting and scraping. The emotions lured taboos, soon lines became paragraphs, paragraphs molded into poems, and rhymes mimicked the heartbeat. Hands ached oftentimes but shoulders felt lighter with each line. Each poem is straight from the soul and attempts to reinstate certain fundamental characters in one’s life.
This is my beating heart and twenty-six years of soliloquy at your palms; this is learning, unlearning and relearning.
About the Author: Mr. Diptendu Roy is an Assistant Professor by profession, an engineer at heart and a writer by choice. The insatiable desire to make his name last not just in memories, he started writing. He is interested in sharing his experiences growing up in a small town in North East India, the emotional struggle and in addressing the musings of the soul. A world where nothing is really wrong from the outside, most of it is an illusion; he tends to move upstream, break stereotypes, and tear the shackles in his mind.
He says, “Thoughts are neither slaves nor bureaucrats; they originate from a space within human minds. They are the evidence that humans are not commodities.”
He believes it is his duty to give back in every little way possible, to help the people around and to inculcate in them the habit of self-importance.
