After his retirement from Service, P V Rajgopal devoted his time writing three books, two of which figured on the bestsellers lists for a total of six times.

The present volume is divided into five parts covering less known facets of important national leaders, less known facts of national developments, interesting police anecdotes and a few chapters of an autobiographical nature. The author has also included five chapters on his pet subject of Ancient Hindu temples. The thoroughly researched book has several facts which are generally not known to a lay reader. He has chosen his own style of presenting the Musings. He has highlighted some aspects which he wishes to bring to the attention of the reader by profuse illustrations.
