About the author: Ramesh Subramaniam was born in Pune, had his early education in Pune and Bangalore, and acquired a Post Graduate degree in Physics from IIT Bombay in 1971. He joined Bata India limited as a management trainee in 1971 and spent nine years in various management positions. He spent over twenty- six years with Tata International Limited in senior management and was Vice President of the footwear Business. He spent five years with UNIDO as a national expert and was appointed as the first Technical Director of the Footwear Design and Development Institute in Noida. He helped set up and expand the operations in FDDI which is today an Institute of National Importance. Later he worked as President of Sri City, an industrial park developer in South India.

Over the last fifty years he has worked with several top managers both in the private sector and with departments of the government. He was able to observe the changes in manufacturing and marketing sector in the Indian Industry, and how these changes were absorbed and challenges dealt with.

This book covers the period 1971 to 2020 and captures some of the insights of leaders in various capacities across India. The purpose of this book is to inspire young managers and help them to contribute to the next phase of the manufacturing industry in India.
