A Handbook on Medicinal Plants of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
The fact that correct identification of medicinal raw produce is prerequisite and vital for the production of quality ISM & H medicines by pharmaceutical industries in India, the present work is an attempt and provides baseline description of 65 species of medicinal plants collected and identified by the author from Andhra Pradesh - a state of south India. The series of medicinal plants field trips yielded over 2000 plant specimens from different forests.
The study provides correct identification of medicinal plants discussed in the text, their vernacular names, distribution, availability, and chemical constituents. The study also lists widely used medicinal plants across the state by the pharmaceutical companies and suggests a few for field-scale cultivation with a view to improve farmers' livelihoods.
The book will attract a wide range of audiences, particularly the botanists, chemists, pharmacologists, and pharmaceutical industries interested in the correct identity of medicinal plants.
