The book ‘The English Novel. From the beginnings to Post Modernism. With Emphasis on Jane Austen, Emily Bronte and George Eliot’, is Part I, of the two-volume series on the English Novel. It traces the beginnings of the English Novel to it’s present. This study focuses on the evolution of the English Novel and it’s growth over the different periods, till the modern and post modern period.

It provides valuable insights into the form of the English Novel, it’s popularity and it’s emergence as the most prominent form of expression in not only English, but also globally.

As the English Novel transitions, and emerges in many different ways in the different phases of it’s history, there remain some novels and novelists, who create what is known as ‘the classics ‘; which have an enduring appeal. Among them are Jane Austen, Emily Bronte and George Eliot.

About the Author: Dr. Seema Sinha is a retd Associate Professor, and ex Head, University Dept. of English, B. B. M. K. University, Dhanbad. She was also Dean, Humanities and Member of the University Syndicate. Dr. Seema Sinha is a published author and critic. She has published two books on English literature and more than a dozen articles in national and international journals.

Dr. Sinha has versatile interests and her book, ‘Graffiti on My Wall ‘, which is a collection of her blogs, has been received well.

Her main area of interest is critical writing on English literature.
