Development and Validation of Automobile Diagnostic Simulation (ADS) for Teaching Petrol Engine Maintenance
Development and validation of Automobile Diagnostic Simulation (ADS) for teaching Petrol Engine Maintenance (PEM) became necessary to improve the delivery of instruction, due to the widening gap between the work environment where petrol engine craftsmen are expected to work and what is obtainable in the classroom. The cost of providing consumables, the hazard involved in learning on real cars, the boredom this generation of students associates with learning using the conventional talk-chalk method calls for a paradigm shift in the way Petrol Engine Maintenance is taught so that students can effectively learn. ADS provides an interactive learning environment where students can learn and practice in hazard free environment using simulated replica of tools, and petrol engines as it is obtainable in real life workshops.
