Guardians of Meru
In Guardians of Meru a marvellous past meets the ordinary present in a story that springs from mythology and reaches out to history.
A restless teenager stumbles upon a strange conch lying beside a man presumably wounded by crows. A local doctor and a city professor team up with him only to find that a bunch of adventurers is trying to dig out one of the greatest secrets of the puranas. Hidden somewhere in the craggy hills of the Satpuda ranges, this secret originates in the Samudramanthana (churning of the seas by the Gods and the Demons). Having run through various puranic episodes, it ultimately rests with a crow who knows the history of the earth from the moment of its creation.
The doctor and the professor are destined to discover how the secret of the puranas is bound up with the reign of an extraordinary King in the history of Indian subcontinent. It ultimately connects with events that followed the tragic destruction of the greatest centre of learning and Buddhist scholarship. The unscrupulous adventurers are finally defeated and the secret of the puranas remains secure with the tribe of crows, the Kaaks, who have been guarding it since the beginnings of time.
