Town Planning and Architecture in India

  • ₹ 220.00

Town Planning and Architecture are twin disciplines as old as human civilisation and so entwined with it that their products, namely, cities and buildings, respectively, touch peoples of the world as much as they touch individuals at all levels and at all times during their conventional life-span of three scores-and-ten or seventy years. The scope of these fields is thus intrinsically as comprehensive and complex and as continually evolving as human beings themselves. It may, therefore, be conceded that to treat this lively subject in adequate detail will require the writing of a full-fledged book. Bearing in mind the space constraint of this volume, however, this treatise has been attempted to achieve two aims: (i) To tell the story of Town Planning and Architecture in India in essential detail while keeping the readers sufficiently interested in the narrative so that not only do they enjoy what they read but also feel fruitfully informed at the end of the extended exercise; (ii) To avoid as much as possible the use of jargon so that the readers are not put off by unfamiliar terminology and compelled to choose not to take the trouble of reading the writeup at all but rather decide in favour of giving it a fair trial.
