Dr. Padam Singh Negi born in 1957 in the village of Malthya, located in Chakrata tehsil of Dehradun district, was born into a simple farming family. His father, Shri Bahadur Singh Negi, was well known in the surrounding areas and nearby villages of Himachal Pradesh for providing free treatment through traditional Vedic methods of medicine.

Dr. Negi’s father would often pray to God to bless at least one of his sons with the opportunity to become a doctor so that he could serve society. In this way, his youngest son, Padam Singh Negi, fulfilled that prayer. Dr. Negi received his early education from the village school in Malthya. After completing his education up to the eighth standard, he continued his studies up to the tenth standard at a nearby institution in Sahia.

Thereafter, he moved to Vikasnagar to pursue higher studies, where he completed his intermediate education from Asharam Vedic Inter College. He then enrolled in the MBBS program and completed his medical education at Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut. Following this, he undertook a one-year house job at Willingdon Hospital in Delhi. Alongside this, he continued his studies and completed a three-year MD in Ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Delhi.

After practicing privately in Bijnor for some time, Dr. Negi joined the Indian Railways in a government position and served in various roles within the Health Department.

Primarily, he served extensively at the Northern Railway Central Hospital. During his career, he worked as Chief Medical Superintendent in Delhi, Lucknow, and Jhansi. Ultimately, he concluded his service tenure as Chief Health Director at the Northern Railway Headquarters, Baroda House.
