The book recounts the life of a woman, born and educated in Canada, married in Canada to an Indian citizen, and who came to live and work in India in 1970.  Once settled into life in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, she and her husband worked in the civil society sector, and this book recounts the issues, the struggles, the victories, of the life lived, with the people, over more than 50 years.  Not only is the book a story of life in the civil society sector during those years, but is also an account of the strength and work of the grassroots tribal people, the low-income Single Women with whom she worked.   The impact of the Emergency, the “New Economic Policy”, the Forest Rights Act, Covid all find a place in the stories.
